Thin 7mm SATA drive for slim laptops

The Seagate Momentus Thin ST250LT003 is a 250GB 2.5-inch internal hard drive built to a 7mm height. It spins at 5400 RPM with a 16MB cache and connects through a SATA 3.0Gb/s interface. The slim profile fits ultraportables and netbooks that cannot accept a standard 9.5mm drive. It is supplied as a bare drive without cables or brackets.

Suitable for 7mm bays and 9.5mm replacements

This drive works in laptops, netbooks and slim consumer devices that take a 2.5-inch SATA drive with a 7mm or 9.5mm z-height. Buyers whose systems require a PCIe interface or a different physical connector will need a different storage type. The 5.6ms average latency and 5400 RPM speed suit everyday computing rather than sustained heavy workloads.

7mm z-height enables slim designs

The defining specification is the 7.0mm maximum height, which allows installation in thin chassis where a 9.5mm drive will not fit. Seagate SmartAlign technology handles the transition to 4096-byte sectors automatically. Dimensions are 70.1mm wide by 100.55mm long, matching the standard 2.5-inch form factor.
