20.4 Gb low-profile EIDE drive

This 20.4 Gb Seagate hard drive uses a 3.5 inch form factor with a 1.0 inch z-height for low-profile laptop bays. It connects through an EIDE interface supporting DMA and Ultra ATA 66 transfer modes. The 512 Kb buffer and 8.9 ms seek time suit basic storage tasks on legacy systems.

Sustained workload behaviour

At 5400 rpm the spindle delivers steady throughput for sequential reads and writes rather than burst speed. The small buffer limits caching during long transfers so sustained rates settle near the media transfer ceiling. Seek latency remains consistent because the actuator does not park aggressively between operations.
