Thermocouple-to-digital converter with I2C interface supporting eight thermocouple types and 0.0625°C resolution
The Grove module integrates Microchip MCP9600 to convert thermocouple voltage into digital temperature readings over I2C. It supports eight thermocouple types including K, J, T, N, S, E, B and R with typical 0.0625 °C resolution and ±1.5 °C accuracy. A Grove socket provides plug-and-play connection to compatible host boards.
Suits projects that need to measure temperatures far beyond thermistor limits, such as kilns, exhaust systems or thermal research up to 600 °C with a K-type probe. Not for applications that require an all-in-one probe, because the board cannot operate without a separate thermocouple. Also not for designs that lack an I2C master or cannot supply the module with power and pull-up resistors.
The MCP9600 handles K, J, T, N, S, E, B and R types with NIST ITS-90 correction coefficients and programmable digital filtering. This breadth of support is the specification that decides whether the module matches the thermocouple you already own or plan to buy.

The module communicates over I2C and converts thermocouple EMF to degrees Celsius with integrated cold-junction compensation. It corrects non-linearity for eight thermocouple types and outputs temperature data with ±1.5°C accuracy.
It uses a Grove unified socket for plug-and-play connection. The board requires a separate K-type thermocouple or other supported thermocouple type to function, as it cannot operate alone.
Connect the module via its Grove socket to a compatible controller, then attach a K-type thermocouple to the terminal blocks. The step often missed is that the amplifier cannot work without a thermocouple connected.
