Grove Variable Color LED V1.1 overview

The Grove Variable Color LED V1.1 is a transducer module that integrates an 8 mm RGB LED with three adjustable resistors. It connects through the standard Grove unified socket for direct plug-and-play use with compatible microcontroller boards. The module operates at either 3.3 V or 5 V DC and draws 20 mA when active. This version adds a logic IC so the LED responds cleanly to logic-level signals.

Suitable uses and limits

Makers building toys, decorative lighting or status indicators can adjust red, green and blue channels independently by turning the onboard resistors. The board is intended for simple on/off or pulse-width modulation control from a single digital output. Projects that require addressable LEDs, individual pixel control or software-defined colour mixing without hardware trimming will need a different module.
