Interactive Video Tour of Brazil

World Tours Brazil is a DVD-ROM title that presents a guided video journey through Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, Iguacu Falls and other locations. The disc runs on Windows XP through Windows 7 and on Mac OS 9.2 through 10.5, making it suited for users with legacy computers who want a virtual travel experience.

Simple Disc Installation on Legacy Systems

Insert the disc into an 8X CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive and follow the on-screen prompts; the installer requires 100 MB of free hard disk space on Windows or 110 MB on Mac. A Pentium II or G3 processor at 300 MHz with 64 MB of RAM is the minimum platform, so very old hardware will run it without driver conflicts.

Fixed Standard-Definition Content on Optical Media

The program outputs at 800 x 600 resolution with 16-bit colour and relies on a 32 MB graphics card, so it cannot scale to modern high-definition displays. Because the video and interactive elements are baked onto the DVD, there are no updates, no streaming option and no way to extract higher-quality files.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the DVD runs correctly after installation on Windows?

Launch the program and confirm the opening scene shows the beaches of Rio de Janeiro with the Cristo Redentor statue visible; the menu should then let you select the Maracana stadium crowd roar or the Iguacu Falls Devil's Throat tour without error messages.

What does the package contain and is anything else required to start?

The box includes the World Tours: Brazil DVD only; you must supply a Windows PC with an 8X DVD-ROM drive, 64 MB RAM, 100 MB free hard-disk space, and a 32 MB graphics card, or a Mac with 110 MB free space and OS 9.2-10.5.

Which version of the disc should I choose for a Mac running OS 10.5?

The single DVD edition supports both Windows XP through Windows 7 and Mac OS 9.2 through 10.5 on Intel or G3 300 MHz processors, so no separate Mac version exists.
