Sennheiser MKH8040 Cardioid Condenser Microphone

Professional Cardioid Condenser Microphone

The Sennheiser MKH8040 is a compact cardioid condenser microphone built for professional audio capture. It suits studio engineers, broadcast professionals and field recordists who need accurate sound reproduction in demanding environments. The RF condenser design delivers pristine audio quality with minimal self-noise. Its focused pickup pattern isolates the intended source while rejecting off-axis sound.

Cardioid Pattern for Focused Studio Integration

The cardioid polar pattern captures sound from the front while significantly reducing unwanted noise from the sides and rear. This allows the microphone to sit close to instruments or vocalists without picking up excessive room ambience or monitor bleed. Its compact form factor fits unobtrusively into existing microphone arrays or tight stage plots. The design frees up physical space around the capsule for precise positioning in multi-microphone sessions.

Low-Noise Performance During Extended Sessions

An equivalent noise level of just 13 dB ensures clean recordings even during quiet passages or long takes. The ultra-wide frequency response of 30Hz to 50kHz captures the full harmonic spectrum of vocals and instruments without roll-off. RF condenser technology maintains consistent sensitivity and low distortion under continuous operation. The microphone delivers reliable, detailed performance across sustained recording or live sound applications.
