Lightning Detection Range

The Sentry LD-1 detects lightning activity up to 64 km away and displays strike distance in four bands. It provides audible beeps, LED indicators and vibration alerts that increase as storms approach. The handheld unit also shows whether a storm is moving toward or away from the user. It is designed for personal safety during outdoor work or recreation.

Outdoor Workers And Leisure Users

Construction crews, campers, golfers and sports teams can monitor approaching storms in real time. The belt-worn design keeps hands free while delivering distance, direction and battery status at a glance. Buyers who need networked alerts, data logging or integration with weather stations should consider other solutions.

64 km Detection Capability

The detector senses lightning from 0 to 64 km and groups strikes into 0–10, 10–19, 19–39 and 39–64 km ranges. Accuracy is maintained by a full digital microprocessor that drives the alarms, LEDs and vibration motor. This range specification determines whether the device covers the area you need to monitor.
