Professional installation projector

The Sharp XP-V731U-B is a 3LCD projector built for fixed installations such as auditoriums, lecture halls and large conference rooms. It delivers a native 1920 x 1200 resolution with a typical brightness of 10,000 lumens and a maximum centre brightness of 10,500 lumens. The unit operates on 100–240 VAC and consumes 467 W in normal mode.

Brightness headroom and contrast limit

At 10,000 lumens typical output the projector maintains readable images in rooms with significant ambient light or on screens several metres wide. The 3,000,000:1 contrast ratio provides deep blacks in darkened environments but cannot overcome washout when strong direct light hits the screen surface. Vertical refresh rates up to 120 Hz support smooth motion for video and simulation content.

Interchangeable lens requirement

The chassis ships without a lens; buyers must select a compatible Sharp lens module such as the XP-44ML, XP-40ZL, XP-41ZL, XP-43ZL or XP-50ZL to match throw distance and image size. Without a lens the projector cannot form an image. Built-in speakers are absent so external audio via the variable stereo mini-jack is required.

Questions about this item

Will the XP-V731U-B accept 1080p sources from my older Blu-ray player over HDMI?

Yes, the two HDMI 2.0 inputs handle 1080p and lower resolutions at the supported vertical refresh rates of 24, 25, 30, 48, 50 up to 85, 100, 120 Hz.

How can I verify the projector is delivering its rated 10,000 lumen brightness after installation?

Display a full-white test pattern in a darkened room and measure centre illuminance with a calibrated lux meter; a reading near 10,500 centre lumens confirms maximum output.

Does the box include a lens or must I purchase one of the XP-40ZL, XP-41ZL, XP-43ZL, XP-44ML or XP-50ZL lenses separately?

The projector ships without a lens; you must buy one of the compatible lenses such as the XP-40ZL, XP-41ZL, XP-43ZL, XP-44ML or XP-50ZL separately.
