Sensing range and mounting

The SICK IM18-08NCP-ZC1 is an M18 inductive proximity sensor with an 8 mm sensing range and a safe operating distance of 6.48 mm. Its non-flush mounting style and cylindrical thread design suit automation tasks where metal targets are detected at close range. The sensor operates on 10 V DC to 30 V DC with a 300 Hz switching frequency. Output logic is wire-configurable between PNP and NPN as well as normally closed or normally open.

Enclosure rating and temperature limits

A nickel-plated brass housing and plastic sensing face meet IP67 protection for dust and water ingress. The unit is rated for ambient temperatures from –25 °C to +70 °C and withstands shock at 30 g for 11 ms plus vibration from 10 Hz to 55 Hz at 1 mm amplitude. Current consumption is 30 mA with a 1.2 V voltage drop and a 200 ms power-up delay.
