The Sick IM30-20BPS-NC1 is an inductive proximity sensor designed for automated machinery and process control. It detects metal targets at a 20 mm sensing range with a 100 Hz switching frequency. The PNP normally-open output operates on 10 to 30 V DC supply voltage. It suits applications requiring non-contact position sensing in harsh environments.

DC supply limits and switching constraints

The sensor requires a 10 to 30 V DC supply with a maximum 20 % ripple. Voltage drop across the output is 2 V at a continuous current of 200 mA. Current consumption is 10 mA with a 40 ms power-up delay. Hysteresis ranges from 1 % to 15 % and reproducibility is 5 %. Temperature drift of the sensing range is 10 %. Short-circuit, reverse polarity and power-up pulse protection are included.

Stainless steel housing with M12 connector

The cylindrical housing uses V4A stainless steel (1.4435, 316L) for both body and sensing face. Thread size is M30 x 1.5 with a 42 mm thread length and 150 Nm maximum tightening torque. Overall housing length is 63.5 mm. Connection is via a 4-pin M12 male connector. Enclosure ratings IP68 and IP69K resist high-pressure washdown and immersion. Operating temperature spans –25 °C to +85 °C. Shock resistance is 30 g for 11 ms and vibration resistance covers 10 to 55 Hz at 1 mm amplitude.
