Industrial contrast sensor

The Sick KTM-WN11182P is a rectangular photoelectric sensor designed for detecting contrast marks on high-speed production lines. It operates on a 12 V DC to 24 V DC supply and draws less than 50 mA. The IP67-rated ABS housing measures 12 mm by 31.5 mm by 21 mm and weighs 70 g, making it suitable for confined mounting spaces in packaging or printing machinery.

RGB LED with teach-in

An integrated RGB LED emits at 470 nm, 525 nm and 625 nm, creating a 1.5 mm by 6.5 mm vertical light spot at a 12.5 mm sensing distance with ± 3 mm tolerance. A teach-in button supports 2-point static or dynamic teaching plus proximity-to-mark mode, while a dynamic teach input (ET) accepts NPN logic below 2 V. Settings are retained in non-volatile memory with a 28 ms retention time.

NPN output and cabling

The sensor provides an NPN light/dark switching output rated at 50 mA maximum with short-circuit protection and reverse polarity protection on supply lines. Switching frequency reaches 15 kHz with a 32 µs response time and 15 µs jitter. Connection is via a 0.2 m cable terminated in a 4-pin M12 male connector; no wireless interface or fieldbus protocol is included.
