Sick VL18-2T2132 Photoelectric Retro-Reflective Sensor M18

Sick VL18-2T2132 retro-reflective sensor

The Sick VL18-2T2132 is a photoelectric retro-reflective sensor in an M18 cylindrical housing. It detects objects using an infrared LED with an axial optical axis. The unit suits industrial automation where a single-device emitter and receiver simplifies mounting. It is not for applications needing through-beam range or diffuse-mode detection without a reflector.

Check supply voltage and output compatibility

Verify your system provides 20 V AC to 253 V AC at 50 Hz or 60 Hz before installation. The sensor uses a TRIAC dark-switching output rated at 300 mA maximum. Ensure the connected load matches this switching mode and current limit. The 2 m PVC cable with 0.34 mm² conductors requires a suitable termination point.

Mounts in M18 thread with IP67 sealing

The 88 mm long plastic housing threads directly into an M18 x 1 cutout. IP67 enclosure rating and a –25 °C to +60 °C operating range suit harsh environments. A 20 ms response time and 25 Hz switching frequency suit medium-speed counting or presence tasks. No potentiometer adjustment means the sensing window is fixed at 0.01 m to 4 m.
