This Sick VTE18-3E4812 photoelectric proximity sensor detects objects from 5 mm to 350 mm with a maximum range of 400 mm. It uses an infrared LED with a 2.8° dispersion angle and a potentiometer for adjustment. The cylindrical angled housing measures 60.6 mm and carries an IP67 enclosure rating for dust and water protection.

Suited for 10 V to 30 V DC systems

The sensor operates on a 10 V DC to 30 V DC supply with a 30 mA power draw and provides an NPN light-switching output. A 2 ms response time supports fast detection cycles. Builders needing a PNP output or a different switching logic should look at other models. The 2 m PVC cable with 0.14 mm² conductors is fixed, so installations requiring a connectorised lead will need a different unit.
