The Sick VTE18-3N2412 is a cylindrical photoelectric proximity sensor with an angled light-emission design. It operates on a 10 V DC to 30 V DC supply with a maximum power consumption of 30 mA. The sensor uses an infrared LED light source with a 2.8° dispersion angle to detect objects within a sensing range of 3 mm to 170 mm, extending to a maximum of 200 mm. An NPN dark-switching output with a 2 ms response time makes it suitable for automated industrial control systems.

IP67 rated housing and thermal range

The brass nickel-plated metal housing combined with plastic components achieves an IP67 enclosure rating for dust and water ingress protection. The unit operates reliably across an ambient temperature range of –25 °C to +70 °C, with the same limits applying to storage conditions. Power draw remains low at 30 mA with a 10 % ripple tolerance on the supply voltage. The 2 ms response time indicates minimal heat generation during continuous switching cycles in normal use.

Adjustable potentiometer and fixed cable

A built-in potentiometer allows manual adjustment of the sensing threshold without external tools or software configuration. The sensor terminates in a 2 m PVC cable with a 3.1 mm diameter and 0.14 mm² conductor cross-section, eliminating the need for separate connectors. The fixed cable and lack of wireless interfaces mean installation is limited to wired control cabinets or junction boxes within the cable length.
