Industrial proximity sensor for automation

The Sick VTF18-3F1640 is a cylindrical photoelectric proximity sensor with background blanking and a PNP switching output. It operates on a 10 V DC to 30 V DC supply and detects objects from 3 mm up to 90 mm using an infrared LED. The focused optics produce a 3 mm light spot at 50 mm distance. An IP67 enclosure rating and a –25 °C to +70 °C operating range suit harsh industrial environments.

M12 connector and focused optics simplify wiring

A male M12 4-pin connector provides the electrical interface, requiring a matching cable or distribution box in the control cabinet. The sensor draws 30 mA and delivers a maximum output current of 100 mA in light-switching mode. With no mechanical adjustment needed, installation is reduced to mounting the M18 x 1 threaded housing and connecting the supply. Circuit protection A, B, C and D guard against common wiring faults.

Low heat and fast response in continuous duty

Power consumption stays at 30 mA, so thermal load inside an enclosure is minimal.
