Compact sensor for automated detection

The Sick WL280-2R1531 is a photoelectric retro-reflective sensor designed for industrial automation and safety applications. It uses visible red light from an LED source to detect objects across a sensing range of 0.01 m to 15 m. The dual-lens rectangular housing suits conveyor lines, packaging equipment and material-handling systems where reliable presence detection is required.

ABS housing with IP66 and IP67 sealing

The sensor measures 23.5 mm wide by 74.5 mm high by 63 mm deep and weighs 150 g. Its plastic ABS housing and PMMA optics resist dust and temporary immersion, while the supplied mounting bracket BEF-W280 and reflector P250 simplify installation. A 2 m PVC cable with five 0.76 mm² conductors carries power and the relay output, which provides electrically isolated change-over contacts rated at 3 A for 240 V AC or 30 V DC.

Low power draw with 15 ms response

Operating on 24 V to 240 V AC or DC, the unit consumes no more than 5 VA and switches at up to 33 Hz. The potentiometer adjustment lets technicians set the switching threshold for light-mode operation, and the 15 ms response time supports fast production cycles. Protection class II and overvoltage category 3 circuitry meet EN 60947-5-2 and EN 61000-6-3 requirements for industrial electromagnetic environments.
