Through-beam photoelectric sensor with 0 to 35 m range, PNP complementary output and IP69K enclosure
The Sick WSE27-3P2450 is a through-beam photoelectric sensor designed for industrial detection tasks requiring a 25 m sensing range. It emits visible red LED light at 645 nm with a 1.5° dispersion angle, creating a 600 mm spot at maximum distance. The sensor operates on 10 V DC to 30 V DC supply voltage and provides a PNP complementary output with light or dark switching modes.
The receiver draws 35 mA while the sender consumes 50 mA, and the unit delivers a 500 µs response time with a 1000 Hz switching frequency for reliable high-speed detection. Output current is limited to 100 mA with signal voltage at approximately supply minus 2.5 V for HIGH and 0 V for LOW. An angle of reception of 3° and built-in circuit protection (A, B, C) maintain consistent performance across the operating temperature span of –40 °C to +60 °C.
The rectangular housing measures 24.6 mm x 80.6 mm x 54 mm and uses ABS plastic with PMMA optics, weighing 200 g. An IP69K enclosure rating withstands high-pressure washdown, while the 4-pin M12 male connector simplifies installation in control cabinets or on machinery frames. A test input allows the sender to be switched off by pulling TE to 0 V, and UL file numbers NRKH.E181493 and NRKH7.E181493 confirm compliance.

The sender consumes 50 mA and the receiver 35 mA, both within the 10 V DC to 30 V DC supply range, so total current stays below 100 mA during all-day operation.
You need a matching 4-pin M12 female connector or pre-wired cordset; the sensor housing only provides the male M12, 4-pin connection.
The 645 nm visible red LED with approx. 1.5° dispersion and 3° reception angle minimises cross-talk, so it can run beside legacy infrared units without interference.
