Industrial photoelectric sensor

The Sick WT150-P162 is a background-suppression photoelectric proximity sensor designed for automation and electrical-installation tasks. Its rectangular ABS housing measures 10 mm by 28 mm by 18 mm and weighs 44 grams. A 2-metre PVC cable with four 0.18 mm² conductors provides the electrical connection. The unit is rated IP67 and operates from –25 °C to +55 °C.

Sensing range and output

The sensor detects objects from 2 mm to 100 mm using a visible red LED with an approximate 5° dispersion angle. A five-turn potentiometer allows fine adjustment of the sensing distance. The PNP output switches up to 100 mA with selectable light or dark switching via the L/D control cable. Switching frequency reaches 1,000 Hz and response time is 0.5 ms.

Supply voltage and protection

The device accepts 10 V DC to 30 V DC with a ±10 % ripple tolerance and draws 20 mA. Built-in circuit protection covers categories A through D and the sensor meets protection class II.
