The Sick WT260-F470 is a photoelectric proximity sensor designed for industrial automation and machine monitoring. It uses an energetic detection principle with visible red LED light to sense objects without physical contact. The PNP switching output and selectable light or dark operation suit PLC inputs and control circuits in packaging, conveying and assembly equipment.

Mounting And Wiring

A supplied BEF-W260 bracket allows direct mounting on the rectangular ABS housing. Connection is made through a standard M12 4-pin male connector, so no soldering or special tools are required. The 270° potentiometer provides manual range adjustment, and the sensor operates on 10 V DC to 30 V DC with built-in circuit protection for supply reversal and output short circuits.

Range And Limits

The sensor reliably detects targets from 5 mm up to 1,000 mm, with a maximum sensing range of 1,500 mm under ideal conditions. At 1,000 mm the light spot measures approximately 45 mm in diameter with a 2.5° dispersion angle. Response time is 0.5 ms at a 1,000 Hz switching frequency, and the IP67 enclosure handles ambient temperatures from –25 °C to +55 °C. Output current is limited to 100 mA, so high-power loads need an external relay.
