Miniature photoelectric sensor with background suppression, 15-150 mm range, NPN output, 10-30 V DC, M8 3-pin connector, IP67/IP66 rated
The SICK WTB4-3N3171 is a compact rectangular photoelectric proximity sensor that uses background suppression to detect objects between 15 mm and 150 mm. It operates on a 10 V DC to 30 V DC supply and provides an NPN light-switching output with a maximum current of 100 mA. The housing measures 16 mm by 39.5 mm by 12 mm and weighs 30 g.
The sensor is rated IP67 and IP66, protecting the internal PinPoint LED and electronics against dust ingress and powerful water jets during continuous duty. An ABS plastic housing and PMMA optics withstand ambient temperatures from –40 °C to +60 °C without performance loss. Circuit protection guards against supply polarity reversal, short circuits and overloads while the unit draws only 20 mA.
A 5-turn mechanical potentiometer lets the installer fine-tune the sensing distance within the 15 mm to 150 mm window to match the exact application. The visible red light spot measures 5 mm by 28 mm at 50 mm distance, enabling reliable detection of small or perforated objects. Connection is made via a 100 mm PVC cable terminated with an M8 3-pin connector.
