Miniature photoelectric sensor with background suppression detects shiny or film-wrapped objects up to 30 mm using visible red PinPoint LED and PNP output
The Sick WTV4-3P3441S38 is a rectangular photoelectric proximity sensor with background suppression. It measures 16 mm by 39.5 mm by 12 mm and weighs 30 g. A visible red PinPoint LED emits at 650 nm, producing a 7 mm by 5 mm light spot at 20 mm distance. The housing uses ABS plastic with PMMA optics.
This sensor suits automated lines that must sense shiny or irregular surfaces at close range. The 5-turn potentiometer allows fine adjustment between 3 mm and 30 mm. Builders who need longer sensing distances, analogue output or a different switching logic should look at other models.
A 150 mm PVC cable with a 4-pin M12 male connector links the PNP light-switching output to the controller. The unit draws 20 mA and switches at 1,000 Hz with a response time under 0.5 ms. IP66 and IP66 ratings protect against dust and water jets from –40 °C to +60 °C.

The sensor requires a DC supply between 10 V and 30 V with ripple below 5 Vpp and draws up to 20 mA.
Yes, the 4-pin M12 male connector follows the standard pin-out, so it plugs directly into compatible 4-pin M12 cables or distribution boxes.
With the potentiometer set for the target distance, the PNP output switches high (light-switching) when the red PinPoint LED spot hits the object; the yellow indicator LED on the housing confirms each switch event.
