Ultra-wide prime for FUJIFILM X APS-C

The Sigma 12mm f/1.4 DC Contemporary lens provides an 18mm full-frame equivalent view on FUJIFILM X-mount APS-C cameras. Its fast f/1.4 aperture suits low-light landscapes, interiors, architecture and vlogging. The stepping AF motor delivers quick, quiet focus with minimal breathing for video work. Photographers needing telephoto reach or full-frame coverage should consider other options.

Optical design and handling

Fourteen elements in twelve groups include three double-sided aspherical and two SLD elements for edge-to-edge sharpness and controlled distortion. A nine-blade rounded diaphragm creates smooth background blur. The dust- and splash-resistant build features a coated front element and a 62mm filter thread for ND or polarising filters. An aperture ring allows direct exposure control during shooting.

Included accessory bundle

The package adds a backpack, filter kit, memory card and card reader for immediate storage and transfer. A tabletop tripod supports stable vlogging or long exposures. Cleaning solution, cloth, air blower and brush maintain optical clarity. A lens cap keeper prevents lost caps during fast-paced sessions.

Questions about this item

How do I mount the Sigma 12mm f/1.4 DC Contemporary on my FUJIFILM X camera and what step do people miss?

Align the lens mount index with the camera body index, rotate until it clicks, then set the aperture ring to the desired f-stop; users often forget to remove the rear protective cap before mounting.

What maintenance will the 62mm filter thread and front coating need over time?

Clean the front element coating with the supplied digital cleaning solution and cloth; use the air blower and brush first to remove grit that could scratch the glass when wiping.

At what point does the f/1.4 aperture become a limitation during long video takes?

The bright f/1.4 aperture lets in maximum light but generates more heat on the sensor during sustained recording; monitor camera temperature warnings and allow cooling breaks if the body signals overheating.
