Tamron B070 17-70mm f/2.8 Sony E camera lens

Versatile APS-C Zoom

The Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD is a fast standard zoom lens built for Sony E-mount APS-C mirrorless cameras. It covers a 17-70mm focal range with a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture, delivering a 4.1x zoom ratio in a single lens. The design targets photographers who want wide-angle to short-telephoto flexibility without swapping glass.

Replaces Variable-Aperture Zooms

This lens upgrades from typical kit zooms that drop to f/5.6 or f/6.3 at the long end, keeping f/2.8 across the full 17-70mm span. The jump is worth it when you need consistent low-light exposure and shallow depth of field at 70mm. Built-in VC stabilisation adds steadier handheld shots, especially at the telephoto setting where camera shake is most visible.

Check Sony E-Mount APS-C Fit

Confirm your camera uses the Sony E mount and an APS-C sensor, as this lens is optimised for that format. The full-frame equivalent view is 25.5-105mm, so verify that range suits your usual subjects. Minimum focus distances are 0.19 m at wide angle and 0.39 m at telephoto, so ensure those working distances match your close-up needs.
