Sigma 17-40mm f/1.8 DC Art Lens for APS-C L-Mount

This Sigma zoom lens covers a 17-40mm focal range with a constant f/1.8 aperture, designed for APS-C mirrorless cameras using the L-Mount system. It targets photographers and videographers who need bright, prime-level image quality across a versatile wide-angle zoom range for landscapes, events, and run-and-gun video production.

Bundle accessories expand shooting

The included backpack, filter kit, memory card, and reader support immediate capture and data workflow. A tabletop tripod aids stable low-angle or static shots, while cleaning solution, cloth, air blower, brush, and lens cap keeper maintain optical clarity in the field.

Constant f/1.8 aperture holds across the 17-40mm

Internal zoom keeps the lens length fixed, which helps gimbal balance during video work. The design uses 17 elements in 11 groups with aspherical and SLD glass to control aberrations, though the variable focal length cannot match the absolute edge-to-edge correction of dedicated fixed-focal-length optics.

Questions about this item

How often should the 11-blade diaphragm be serviced?

The 11-blade rounded diaphragm is sealed inside the lens barrel and does not require user maintenance under normal use.

What limits continuous video recording at f/1.8 across the 17-40mm range?

Internal zoom keeps the barrel length constant for gimbal balance, and the linear AF motor minimises focus breathing during sustained takes.

Does the lens get hot or noisy during all-day shooting?

The ultra-quiet linear motor runs silently, and the weather-resistant construction dissipates heat without audible fan noise.
