Sony E-mount 24mm f/1.8 prime lens

This Sony E-mount prime lens offers a 24mm focal length with a constant f/1.8 maximum aperture. It uses a Sonnar optical design in 7 groups and 8 elements, including two aspheric elements. The lens weighs 8oz and measures 2.5" x 2.6" x 2.6". It suits photographers wanting a wide-angle perspective with shallow depth-of-field control.

Metal mount, stepping motor, direct manual focus

The metal mount attaches securely to any Sony E-mount body without adapters. An internal stepping motor drives autofocus quickly, smoothly and quietly for stills and movies. Direct Manual Focus lets you fine-tune focus by turning the ring after AF lock without flipping a switch. The 49mm filter thread accepts standard circular filters.

Check APS-C crop factor and close-focus needs

On APS-C bodies the 24mm focal length gives a 36mm equivalent angle of view and a 61-degree field of view. Minimum focus distance is 6.2 inches (0.16m) with 0.25x maximum magnification for 1/4 macro shooting. Verify that the 49mm filter size matches your accessories and that the f/22 minimum aperture meets your depth-of-field requirements.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the lens is working correctly after mounting it on my camera?

After mounting, verify autofocus locks quickly and silently, then switch to Direct Manual Focus to fine-tune focus without changing modes; check that the aperture blades form a near circle at f/1.8 and that the minimum focus distance reaches 6.2 inches with 0.25x magnification.

What accessories are included in the box and which must be purchased separately?

The box contains the SEL24F18Z lens with front and rear caps; a 49mm filter, lens hood and protective pouch are not included and must be bought separately.

Which version or capacity should I choose for APS-C versus full-frame use?

This single 24mm f/1.8 E-mount prime covers both formats — it provides a 36mm equivalent field of view on APS-C (61° angle of view) and a 24mm equivalent on full-frame, so no alternate version is needed.
