Art Zoom for APS-C Nikon

The Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art lens covers a 27-52.5mm equivalent range on APS-C Nikon F bodies. Its constant f/1.8 aperture suits photographers who need shallow depth of field and bright viewfinder images across the entire zoom. The bundled 72mm filter kit, Flex Shade and cleaning accessories protect the front element and keep glass clear during extended shoots.

Consistent Brightness Across the Range

An aspherical element and SLD glass suppress distortion and chromatic aberration from wide to normal focal lengths. Super Multi-Layer Coating cuts flare and ghosting so contrast holds up under strong backlight. Internal focusing and zooming keep the barrel length fixed, which helps balance on gimbals and prevents the front filter from rotating during video work.

Upgrade from Variable-Aperture Kit Zooms

This lens replaces slower standard zooms that drop to f/3.5-5.6, giving two extra stops of light at the long end for indoor events or evening street scenes. The nine-blade diaphragm renders round bokeh highlights that kit lenses cannot match. Photographers who primarily shoot full-frame or need telephoto reach beyond 52.5mm equivalent should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How much heat does the constant f/1.8 aperture generate during long video sessions?

The lens barrel uses Thermally Stable Composite material that resists temperature changes, and the internal focusing design keeps the physical size constant during operation.

What camera mount must I already own to use this lens?

The lens is built for the Nikon F mount and is designed specifically for APS-C format cameras.

Will the 72 mm filter threads on this lens accept the circular polariser I use on my older Nikkor glass?

Yes, the 72 mm front thread is a standard size, so existing 72 mm filters will fit directly without step-up rings.
