The Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM Art is a fixed focal-length prime lens built for Nikon F-mount cameras. It delivers a bright F1.4 maximum aperture and a nine-blade rounded diaphragm for shallow depth-of-field control. The optical design uses one moulded glass aspherical element and three Special Low Dispersion elements to correct axial chromatic aberration across the focusing range. A ring-type Hyper Sonic Motor provides quiet autofocus with full-time manual override.

F1.4 aperture and 77mm filter thread

The fast F1.4 aperture enables low-light shooting and selective focus techniques while maintaining consistent illumination. Minimum focus distance is 0.4 metres (15.7 inches), limiting close-up magnification compared with dedicated macro lenses. The lens accepts 77mm front filters, so existing filter systems of that diameter can be reused without step-up rings. On APS-C bodies the field of view corresponds to a 75mm or 80mm equivalent focal length depending on the crop factor.

Nikon F mount and USB Dock calibration

This version uses the Nikon F bayonet with a brass mount for durability; verify that your camera body supports the F mount before ordering. Focus accuracy can be fine-tuned only through the optional Sigma USB Dock, which is not included in the box. The lens lacks optical stabilisation, so handheld shutter speeds must be managed by the photographer or the camera body.
