SIGMA 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens for Canon EF-M with 55mm Filter Kit

Sigma 56mm f/1.4 Contemporary Lens for Canon EF-M

This prime lens delivers a 56mm fixed focal length with a bright f/1.4 maximum aperture, providing an 89.6mm equivalent field of view on APS-C sensors. It is built for photographers who want shallow depth of field and strong low-light capability in a compact form factor. The bundle includes a 55mm Essential Filter Kit, cleaning kit, and cleaning cloth for immediate protection and maintenance. It suits portrait, street, and everyday shooters using Canon EF-M mirrorless bodies.

Integration with EF-M mirrorless system

The lens mounts directly to Canon EF-M cameras via a high-precision brass bayonet, requiring no adapter for native operation. Its stepping motor drives smooth, quiet autofocus that works with face and eye detection tracking during video recording. The optical design leverages in-camera corrections for peripheral illumination and distortion, allowing a smaller barrel without sacrificing sharpness. An SLD glass element controls axial chromatic aberration that software cannot fix, freeing up post-processing time.

Upgrade from variable-aperture zooms

Photographers moving from kit zooms or f/2.8-and-slower primes gain two full stops of light-gathering power at the 56mm focal length. The jump is worth it when subject isolation, indoor event work, or twilight shooting demand consistent f/1.4 brightness and the rendering quality of a corrected prime design. Buyers who need zoom flexibility, wider angles, or full-frame coverage should look elsewhere, as this lens covers APS-C only and offers a single focal length.
