Portrait prime for APS-C RF

The Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary lens is built for Canon RF-M mount mirrorless cameras with APS-C sensors. Its fast f/1.4 maximum aperture suits low-light shooting and gives shallow depth of field for portrait work. A stepping AF motor delivers quick, quiet focus for both stills and video. The kit adds a tulip hood, UV filter, blower, cleaning pen, cloth and starter cleaning kit.

Bright aperture with optical corrections

The f/1.4 to f/16 range provides wide-open brightness and stopped-down depth control. One SLD element and two aspherical elements reduce spherical and chromatic aberrations for sharper results. Super multilayer coating cuts flare and ghosting in strong light. On APS-C the 56mm focal length yields an 89.6mm full-frame equivalent view, a classic portrait perspective.

Kit adds protection and maintenance

The included 55mm tulip hood and UV filter shield the front element from stray light and physical contact. Blower, pen, cloth and starter kit let you clean glass in the field without extra purchases. Stepping motor AF works with the camera's native focus system. No tripod collar or weather sealing is mentioned, so consider support and protection for heavy use.

Questions about this item

Will the 56mm f/1.4 Contemporary lens cover the full frame of my Canon RF camera or does it crop?

This lens is designed for APS-C sensors so on a full-frame Canon RF body it will automatically engage a 1.6× crop mode, giving an 89.6mm equivalent field of view.

How can I confirm the stepping AF motor is focusing quietly and accurately after mounting the lens?

Switch to AF mode, half-press the shutter or tap the screen; the motor should move smoothly with no audible whirring and the focus confirmation indicator will light when lock is achieved.

Which accessories in the 7-piece kit attach directly to the 55mm filter thread and which are separate cleaning tools?

The tulip hood and UV filter screw onto the 55mm front thread; the blower, cleaning pen, microfiber cloth and starter cleaning kit are separate maintenance items.
