What it does

The Silverstone SST-CPL02 is an 8-in-1 addressable RGB hub that consolidates up to eight light strips or devices onto a single motherboard header or external controller. It draws power from a SATA 15-pin connector and passes the signal through eight custom 3-pin outputs, letting builders synchronise a full case of lighting without daisy-chaining.

Capacity and headroom

Each output port is limited to 5V 9A, split internally as 4.5A + 4.5A, so a single long strip or several shorter ones can run at full brightness without exceeding the hub’s per-port ceiling. The aggregate load across all eight ports must stay within the SATA power supply’s capability, so very high-density installations may hit the total current limit before every port reaches its individual maximum.

SATA-powered distribution

The hub relies entirely on the SATA power rail for its 5V supply, meaning the practical ceiling is set by the power supply’s SATA connector rating rather than the motherboard header. If the PSU cannot deliver enough amperage on that rail, the hub will throttle or shut down even though the signal path supports eight independent channels.

Questions about this item

Will the SST-CPL02 hub work with my existing 3-pin 5 V addressable RGB strips and a motherboard 4-pin header?

Yes, the hub accepts both a standard 3-pin +5 V D G input and a motherboard 4-pin +5 V D NP G input, then drives eight custom 3-pin outputs for your current strips.

How can I verify the hub is functioning after I connect it?

Connect the SATA power cable, link the input signal cable to a compatible controller or motherboard header, attach strips to the eight output ports, then use the controller or motherboard software to confirm each channel lights and responds to colour changes.

Which cables are included and what must I purchase separately?

The box contains eight standard 3-pin addressable RGB cables, one SATA power cable and one input signal cable; you only need to provide the addressable RGB strips or devices themselves.
