256MB ECC Rambus RIMM module

This 256MB PC800-40ns 184-Pin ECC Rambus RDRAM RIMM provides system-specific memory for compatible platforms. The module uses Rambus RDRAM technology with error-correcting code for data integrity. It operates at PC800 speed with a 40ns timing specification. The 184-pin form factor fits matching RIMM sockets.

Suits legacy systems needing ECC RDRAM

This module suits owners of legacy workstations or servers that require PC800 ECC Rambus RIMM memory. It is not for systems using SDRAM, DDR or later memory standards. Buyers who need higher capacities or non-ECC modules should look elsewhere. Compatibility depends on the specific platform documentation.

Questions about this item

Does my motherboard need 184-pin RIMM slots for this PC800-40ns module?

Yes, this RIMM requires a motherboard with 184-pin Rambus memory slots designed for PC800 speed.

Can I add this ECC RIMM to a system already using non-ECC RDRAM?

Mixing ECC and non-ECC RDRAM is not recommended; the system will typically disable ECC or fail to boot.
