What the earbuds deliver

Skullcandy Smokin Buds S2TAW-R740 are true wireless in-ear headphones built for everyday listening. They target users who want a lightweight, comfortable fit with secure ear-gel options and the freedom to take calls using microphones in each bud. The design uses up to 50 percent renewable plastics and comes in 100 percent recyclable packaging. Buyers who need over-ear isolation or a wired connection will not find those features here.

Battery life and charging

The earbuds hold 8 hours of playtime and the charging case adds 12 hours for a total of 20 hours. Rapid charge gives 2 hours of listening after the first 10 minutes plugged in. No active noise cancellation or high-power audio processing is present, so power draw stays low during normal music playback and calls.

Fit in your daily carry

The compact case slips into a pocket or small bag and recharges the buds without cables. Bluetooth pairing works with iPhone, Android and other Bluetooth devices for immediate audio and microphone access. Three sizes of soft rubber ear gels let you seal out ambient noise passively. Users who require aptX, LDAC or multipoint Bluetooth will need a different model.

Questions about this item

How do I pair the Smokin Buds with my phone and what step is often missed?

Open the case to enter pairing mode, select the buds in your device's Bluetooth menu, and confirm any pop-up prompt; the step people skip is accepting that second confirmation, which leaves the buds unconnected.

Which parts will need replacement after extended use?

The three sets of soft rubber ear-gel tips wear out first; the earbuds and case batteries are not user-replaceable, so plan on new tips every few months.

What runtime limit appears first during a long listening session?

Each bud lasts 8 hours per charge; the case adds 12 more hours for 20 total, so the earbuds themselves hit empty before the case does.
