Skullcandy Smokin' Buds Wireless Earbuds

The Skullcandy Smokin' Buds S2TAW-T989 are true wireless in-ear headphones finished in Preppy Sage. They use 6 millimetre drivers with a 16 ohm impedance and a sensitivity of 104 decibels. Bluetooth connectivity removes the need for a jack, while sound isolation blocks external noise passively.

Suited to listeners wanting long battery life

The earbuds provide 8 hours of playback with an additional 12 hours from the charging case, reaching 20 hours total. A 10 minute rapid charge adds 2 hours of listening. IPX4 sweat and water resistance supports active use. Buyers who need active noise cancellation, multipoint pairing or a stay-aware mode should consider other models.

Charging case adds 12 hours and enables rapid charge

The supplied case stores the earbuds and extends total operating time to 20 hours. Rapid charge delivers 2 hours of playback from a 10 minute top-up. Four taps on either bud cycle through Music, Movie and Podcast EQ presets without an app. The package uses 100% recyclable packaging and the buds contain 50% certified recyclable plastics.

Questions about this item

What type of Bluetooth device do I need to pair with the Smokin' Buds S2TAW-T989?

Any device with Bluetooth audio output — phone, tablet or computer — will pair with these earbuds; no specific Bluetooth version is required by the product.

Will the IPX4-rated earbuds survive the same rain exposure as my older non-rated headphones?

The IPX4 rating protects against splashing water and sweat, so they handle rain and workouts that would damage non-rated headphones.

How can I confirm the 20-hour total battery life is working after the first charge?

Charge the case fully, then use the earbuds until they stop; you should reach roughly 8 hours from the buds plus 12 hours from the case before needing to recharge.
