Skymax 127 Maksutov-Cassegrain Telescope

The Sky-Watcher Skymax 127 is a Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope featuring a 127mm aperture and 1500mm focal length. It uses fully multi-coated optics and includes a 6x30 finderscope for targeting. The optical tube is supplied new and ready for astronomical use.

Best for visual planetary and lunar observation

This telescope suits observers who want high-magnification views of the Moon, planets and double stars from a compact tube. Buyers needing a wide-field instrument for large nebulae or a fast focal ratio for deep-sky imaging should consider a different optical design.

1500mm focal length at f/12

The long 1500mm focal length sets the native magnification scale and narrow field of view, making it the single specification that determines whether this tube matches your observing or imaging goals.

Questions about this item

How do I attach the 28mm eyepiece to the 2-inch focuser?

Insert the 28mm eyepiece barrel straight into the 2-inch drawtube and tighten the locking screw; the step often missed is skipping the finderscope alignment before first use.

What maintenance will the 127mm Maksutov corrector plate need over time?

The sealed Maksutov design keeps the 127mm corrector plate protected; only occasional gentle dusting with a blower is required, and internal collimation is rarely needed.

At what aperture limit does image brightness plateau during extended deep-sky sessions?

The 127mm aperture sets the hard limit on light grasp, so faint-object visibility stops improving once the 127mm entrance pupil is fully utilised.
