This SMA 203DH KVM switch lets two desktops or laptops share three displays and four USB 3.0 peripherals from a single keyboard and mouse set. It accepts one HDMI 2.1 and two DisplayPort 1.4 inputs per system, then routes the chosen video to three matching outputs. The unit is driver-free for Windows, Mac, Linux, Unix, Ubuntu and Chrome OS, making it suitable for mixed-OS workstations.

Build integration and cabling requirements

Each connected computer needs one HDMI and two DisplayPort video outputs plus a USB 3.0 link to the switch; the box supplies one HDMI 2.1 cable, two DP 1.4 cables and two USB 3.0 cables at 1.5 m each. A wired remote on a 1.52 m lead and front push-buttons both change the active PC, with LEDs showing the selection. The included 12 V DC adapter must be connected for operation, freeing the host USB ports from supplying bus power.

Resolution headroom and USB bandwidth

Video throughput reaches 8K at 60 Hz or 4K at 144 Hz over DisplayPort 1.4 and 8K at 60 Hz over HDMI 2.1, with backward compatibility down to lower modes. The four USB 3.0 ports deliver up to 5 Gbit/s each — ten times the 480 Mbit/s ceiling of USB 2.0 — handling keyboards, mice, printers and storage concurrently. Extended and mirrored display modes are both supported across the three monitors.
