Triple-monitor KVM for two PCs

This DisplayPort KVM switch lets two computers share three monitors and three USB 3.0 peripherals. It supports resolutions up to 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 120 Hz, with backward compatibility down to 720p. Mirror and extend modes are toggled via the operating system. The unit is driver-free and works with Windows, Mac OS and Chrome OS.

Check your video outputs and cables

Both computers must provide three DisplayPort outputs each to use all three monitor ports. Verify that your graphics cards can drive the desired resolution and refresh rate combination. You will need six DisplayPort cables for the computer links plus three more for the monitors, none of which are included. The switch draws power from the supplied 12 V adapter, so a free mains socket is required.

Compact metal chassis with front-panel controls

The enclosure measures 4.72 by 2.76 by 2.36 inches and weighs 230 g, fitting easily on a crowded desk. Switching is done by push buttons on the front or the included wired remote, and LED indicators show the active computer. Three USB 3.0 ports on the front accept keyboards, mice, printers or flash drives at up to 5 Gb/s. An on/off toggle lets you cut power without unplugging the adapter.

Questions about this item

What cables and accessories come in the box with the SMA KVM switch, and do I need to buy DisplayPort cables separately?

The package includes the KVM switch, two USB 3.0 cables, a wired controller, a DC 12V power adapter and a user manual. DisplayPort cables for the three monitor ports and two computer ports are not included and must be purchased separately.

Should I choose this switch for 8K@60Hz or 4K@120Hz use, and what lower resolutions does it support?

This model handles up to 8K@60Hz and 4K@120Hz, and is backward compatible with 4K@30Hz, 1080P, 720P and 3D resolutions, so it covers both high-end and legacy display setups.

What does the 5Gb/s USB 3.0 rating mean when I connect a keyboard, mouse and printer to the three USB ports?

The three USB 3.0 ports share a 5Gb/s bandwidth pool, which is ten times faster than USB 2.0, allowing quick data transfers from a U-disk or printer while the keyboard and mouse operate with negligible latency.
