AX1800 USB 3.0 adapter for Windows PCs

The SMA AX1808 adds WiFi 6 connectivity to desktops and laptops through a USB 3.0 port. It targets users who need dual-band wireless on Windows 7, 10 or 11 without opening the case. Driver installation is required before first use. The adapter also works as a soft access point to share the connection with other devices.

Cooling holes and USB 3.0 for thermal

Ventilation holes on the casing help dissipate heat during sustained transfers. The USB 3.0 interface runs up to ten times faster than USB 2.0, reducing bottlenecking on the 1800 Mbps link. No external power is needed; the adapter draws what it requires from the host port.

Dual rotatable antennas

Two 180-degree adjustable antennas let you orient the signal for best coverage. The stick measures 2.2 by 0.47 by 3.74 inches, so it clears adjacent ports on most systems. A USB 3.0 socket is required for rated performance; USB 2.0 will limit throughput. Only Windows 7, 10 and 11 are supported.

Questions about this item

How do I install the AX1808 USB 3.0 WiFi 6 adapter on Windows 10, and what step is often missed?

Plug the adapter into a USB 3.0 port, then install the driver from the included manual before selecting the WiFi hotspot; skipping the driver install is the common error.

What maintenance will the AX1808 adapter need over time?

Keep the special cooling holes clear of dust so heat can escape; the dual 180° rotatable antennas should be checked occasionally for firm attachment.

What limit appears first during sustained high-speed use of the AX1808?

Thermal throttling can occur if the cooling holes are blocked, reducing the 1201 Mbps 5 GHz or 574 Mbps 2.4 GHz throughput until the adapter cools.
