Integrated Lens Hood and UV Filter

The SmallRig 5679 combines a metal bayonet lens hood with a sealed UV glass filter in one unit made for the Ricoh GR IV. It mounts directly to the retractable lens barrel to protect the front element from dust, scratches and light splashes while blocking stray light that causes flare. A silicone cap is included to cover the assembly during storage.

Bayonet Mount Limits

The precision metal bayonet attaches only to the GR IV lens profile, so the unit cannot be used on other cameras or filter threads. Its compact profile is designed not to obstruct the built-in viewfinder or the pop-up flash. The integrated hood cannot be removed separately from the filter glass, so the combined depth is fixed whenever the accessory is fitted.

Build and Daily Use

The aluminium alloy frame and optical glass front element are finished in matte black with a gold accent ring that matches the GR IV styling. The bayonet lock provides a secure, quiet fit without tools. The sealed glass acts as a permanent shield against sand, rain and snow, while the hood reduces ghosting in bright conditions. The supplied silicone cap protects both glass and hood when the camera is packed away.

Questions about this item

Does the 5679 come in different thread sizes or filter diameters?

The 5679 is a single integrated unit designed specifically for the Ricoh GR IV retractable lens. It mounts via a precision metal bayonet, so there are no thread sizes or filter diameters to select.

How does the integrated UV filter affect image quality on the GR IV?

The high-quality sealed UV glass maintains maximum light transmission and colour accuracy while protecting the lens. The hood blocks stray light to minimise flare and ghosting in bright conditions.

What mounting standard does the 5679 use and what does it secure?

It uses a custom metal bayonet mount made for the Ricoh GR IV. This secures the combined lens hood and UV filter as one unit without obstructing the viewfinder or built-in flash.
