Top-opening report cover

This Smead 81124 cover opens from the top and uses a prong fastener with holes spaced 2 3/4 inches centre-to-centre. It holds letter-size sheets and is finished in black. The pressguard material protects documents during handling and storage. Suited for classrooms, offices or home filing where a simple binding method is preferred.

Users needing a single-fastener cover

Ideal for teachers, students and administrators who assemble reports, portfolios or handouts that must stay in page order. Not suited for buyers who need a ring binder, a multi-ring mechanism or a cover that opens from the side. Those looking for a clear front window or a pocket for loose inserts should consider a different style.

Prong fastener with 2 3/4 inch hole spacing

The fastener uses two prongs aligned to the standard 2 3/4 inch spacing, so it only accepts pre-punched paper matching that pattern. If your documents are punched to a different spacing or use a different binding system, this cover will not work. Verify the hole pattern before ordering.

Questions about this item

How many sheets does the 2 3/4" prong fastener hold before it binds?

The cover uses a two-prong fastener with 2 3/4" centre-to-centre spacing; capacity depends on paper weight and is not rated by the manufacturer.

Does the black cover get too hot to handle after sitting in sunlight all day?

The cover is made of standard pressboard; it will warm in direct sun but does not generate its own heat.

What size paper must I already have for the 2 3/4" hole spacing to line up?

The 2 3/4" centre-to-centre holes match standard US letter-size paper punched for two-prong fasteners.
