What this cable delivers

This SMUGDESK USB 4.0 Gen 3 cable carries up to 40Gbps of data, supports 8K video at 60 Hz and provides up to 240W of power delivery over a 3.3 ft braided USB-C to USB-C link. It is built for users who need the full USB4 feature set in a single, durable cable.

Who should use it and who should not

Creative professionals and power users connecting Thunderbolt 3 or 4 docks, 8K monitors or high-wattage laptops will get the rated throughput and charging. Buyers whose devices only support USB 3.2, 3.1 or 3.0 speeds will not see the 40Gbps rate and may prefer a lower-cost cable.

The spec that decides fit

The cable is certified for 40Gbps USB4 Gen 3 operation with 240W PD and 8K 60 Hz video; if your host, dock or display does not support USB4 40Gbps or 240W charging, the extra headroom goes unused.

Questions about this item

Will the 40Gbps USB 4.0 cable work with my older Thunderbolt 3 dock and USB 3.2 devices?

Yes, the cable is backwards compatible with Thunderbolt 3, USB 3.2, USB 3.1 and USB 3.0, so it will connect to your existing dock and peripherals at their supported speeds.

How can I verify the cable is delivering 8K 60Hz video and 240W charging after I plug it in?

Check your laptop or monitor settings to confirm an 8K 60Hz signal is active, and observe the power meter or battery indicator showing up to 240W (48V/5A) charging rate.

Does the 3.3 ft braided USB4 cable include a power adapter or do I need to buy one separately?

The box contains only the USB C to USB C cable; a compatible 240W USB Power Delivery charger must be purchased separately to reach the full charging capability.
