What this cable delivers
This SMUGDESK DisplayPort 1.4 cable carries 32.4 Gbps bandwidth to support 8K at 60 Hz with 10-bit color HDR, 4K at 144 Hz, and 1080p at 240 Hz. It uses VESA DSC 1.2 for visually lossless 3:1 compression and includes Multi-Stream Transport for multiple monitors on one port. The 16.4 ft length suits home-theatre, meeting-room, or extended desk setups.
Limits of the DisplayPort 1.4 interface
DisplayPort 1.4 tops out at 32.4 Gbps, so 8K at higher refresh rates or uncompressed 8K above 60 Hz are not possible. DSC 1.2 compression is required to reach the stated 8K 60 Hz figure; without DSC support on both source and sink the maximum resolution drops. The cable is backward compatible with DisplayPort 1.3, 1.2, and 1.1, but those older versions cannot deliver the same bandwidth or refresh-rate combinations.
Check your devices before ordering
Verify that your graphics card and monitor both have full-size DisplayPort 1.4 ports and support HBR3 signalling. Confirm the source device can output DSC 1.2 if you plan to run 8K at 60 Hz. Ensure the 16.4 ft reach matches your routing path; longer runs may need an active repeater for guaranteed stability. The cable is not designed for mini-DisplayPort or USB-C alt-mode ports without a separate adapter.

Questions about this item
Should I choose the 16.4ft length or a shorter DisplayPort cable for my 8K@60Hz monitor?
The 16.4ft cable is certified for 32.4 Gbps bandwidth and supports 8K@60Hz, 4K@144Hz, and 1080P@240Hz at this length, so it will deliver full performance without signal loss.
What does the 32.4 Gbps bandwidth actually deliver when I plug this cable into my RTX 3080 and 4K gaming monitor?
It enables 4K@144Hz with HDR10 and DSC 1.2 visually lossless compression, plus 2K@240Hz or 1080P@240Hz for high-refresh competitive gaming on compatible Nvidia RTX 3070/3080/3090 or AMD Radeon RX 6800/6900 cards.
Does the DisplayPort 1.4 interface with HBR3 and DSC 1.2 limit me to 60Hz at 8K, or can it go higher?
The DP 1.4 standard with HBR3 caps at 32.4 Gbps, so 8K is limited to 60Hz, but 4K reaches 144Hz and 1080P reaches 240Hz using DSC 1.2 compression, all while staying backward compatible with DP 1.3/1.2/1.1.
