DisplayPort 1.4 cable for 8K and high-refresh gaming

This DisplayPort 1.4 cable connects a PC or laptop to a monitor, projector or HDTV. It is built for users who need 8K resolution at 60 Hz or 4K resolution at up to 144 Hz. The slim, braided design fits tight spaces behind desks or in multi-monitor stands.

Bandwidth headroom at 32.4 Gbps for 8K

The cable carries up to 32.4 Gbps, a 50 % increase over DisplayPort 1.2. That bandwidth handles 8K at 60 Hz with 10-bit colour, RGB 4:4:4, HDR and DSC. It also drives 4K at 120 Hz, 144 Hz or 165 Hz, plus 1440p at up to 165 Hz and 1080p at up to 165 Hz. Runs out of headroom for uncompressed 8K above 60 Hz or 4K above 144 Hz.

3.3 ft length sets the reach limit

At 3.3 ft the cable suits same-desk connections between a GPU and a nearby display. Longer runs to a wall-mounted TV or across a room need a different length. Gold-plated connectors resist corrosion but do not extend the maximum reliable distance.

Questions about this item

Will this DisplayPort 1.4 cable run at 8K 60 Hz with my older DisplayPort 1.2 monitor and GPU?

The cable is backward compatible with DisplayPort 1.2 ports, but the link will negotiate at 1.2 speeds — 8K 60 Hz requires both ends to support DisplayPort 1.4 HBR3.

How can I confirm the cable is delivering 32.4 Gbps after I plug it in?

In Windows display settings or your GPU control panel, verify the active resolution and refresh rate match a 1.4 mode such as 4K 144 Hz or 8K 60 Hz; those modes only appear when the full 32.4 Gbps link is established.

Does the 3.3 ft cable include any adapters or do I need to buy a separate DisplayPort to HDMI converter?

The box contains only the male-to-male DisplayPort 1.4 cable with gold-plated connectors; any HDMI or other adapter must be purchased separately.
