Two-metre elbow USB-C cables

This pack contains two 6.6 ft elbow USB-C cables rated for USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 speeds up to 20 Gbps. They deliver 100 W charging with an integrated E-Marker chip and support 4K video at 60 Hz when the host and display both implement DisplayPort Alternate Mode. The right-angle connectors reduce strain in tight spaces for laptop, tablet, portable SSD or PS5 controller users.

Bandwidth and video limits

The 20 Gbps ceiling applies only when both ends negotiate USB 3.2 Gen 2x2; many hosts fall back to 10 Gbps or 5 Gbps. Video output requires the source port to expose DisplayPort Alternate Mode, otherwise no external monitor signal appears. Thunderbolt 3 and 4 hosts will operate at their native speeds, but the cable does not add Thunderbolt capability to non-Thunderbolt ports. Charging above 60 W demands a PD 3.0 source and a device that accepts 20 V at 5 A.

Installation notes

Simply plug the elbow ends into the USB-C ports; orientation is fixed by the right-angle moulding. Common issues are no video because the laptop port lacks DisplayPort Alternate Mode, or slower-than-expected transfers when a hub or dock limits the link to USB 3.1 or 3.0 speeds. The cable is not for buyers who need Thunderbolt certification, active optical reach beyond 2 metres, or legacy USB-A connectivity.

Questions about this item

Which length of the SMUGDESK elbow USB-C cable should I choose?

The pack includes two 6.6 ft cables; pick that length if you need reach across a desk or from a floor outlet, otherwise a shorter cable reduces clutter.

What does the 20 Gbps rating mean when I plug the cable into my laptop and SSD?

It is the peak throughput of the USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 link; real-world transfer tops out at the slowest device in the chain, so a 10 Gbps drive will only move data at 10 Gbps.

How does the USB-C connector limit video output on this cable?

The cable carries DisplayPort Alternate Mode up to 3840×2160 at 60 Hz; both host and display must support DP Alt Mode or no video signal will appear.
