What the cable does and who needs it

This SMUGDESK fibre-optic DisplayPort cable carries 8K 7680x4320 at 60 Hz and 4K at 144 Hz over a 16 ft run. It supports DisplayPort 1.2 and 1.4 signalling at 32.4 Gbps bandwidth. The link is aimed at home-theatre, gaming, office, VR or workstation-extension setups that need long-distance, high-resolution video and audio without signal loss.

Installation notes and common pitfalls

The cable is plug-and-play but has a fixed direction: the end marked Source connects to the computer or laptop, the end marked Display connects to the monitor. Reversing the ends will give no picture. The 4-core optical fibre construction keeps the cable slim and flexible for in-wall routing, yet the directional requirement must be observed during every installation.

Compatibility checks before ordering

Verify that both the source device and the display support the target resolution and refresh rate you intend to use. The cable handles up to 100 m transmission, so 16 ft is well within its range, but the host and monitor must each be capable of 8K@60 Hz or 4K@144 Hz output and input respectively. No external power is required.
