Forward breakout cable for RAID controllers
This internal HD Mini SAS cable uses an SFF8643 host connector to split into four SFF8482 29pin target ports. It connects a RAID controller or HBA card directly to SAS and SATA hard drives or SSDs inside a server chassis. The forward breakout design is built for enterprise storage expansion in NAS, JBOD and RAID array deployments. Buyers needing a reverse-direction backplane-to-controller cable cannot use this product.
Shielded wiring and latching connectors
Multilayer shielding reduces signal interference during continuous 24hour operation at up to 12Gbps per-port bandwidth under the SAS 3.0 standard. Firm latching connectors lock securely to prevent loose contact caused by cabinet vibration. The cable supports stable high-throughput reading and writing across all four connected drives. No additional software or drivers are included; the cable is purely a physical interconnect.
Internal chassis installation only
Installation requires routing the cable inside a server chassis between the controller card and drive bays, confirming the host card supports SFF8643 forward breakout function beforehand. The rigid shielding and latch mechanism demand adequate clearance for connector engagement. The cable is not designed for external deployment or hot-plug backplane scenarios. Incorrect directionality or unsupported controller firmware will result in undetected drives.

Questions about this item
Will the SFF8643 connector or SFF8482 29pin ports need periodic replacement?
The latching connectors are designed for secure lock-in and long-term enterprise use; no periodic replacement is required under normal server operation.
What is the first limit reached during sustained 12Gbps SAS3.0 transfers?
The per-port 12Gbps bandwidth ceiling of the SAS 3.0 standard is the primary throughput limit during continuous high-speed operation.
How much heat or noise does the shielded cable add during 24hour server runs?
The passive shielded wiring produces no noise and negligible heat; it is built for stable 24hour enterprise-grade operation without active cooling.
