SMUGDESK SF012 Internal Mini SAS Cable SFF8643 to 4× SFF8482 6Gbps
Connects one SFF8643 host port to four SFF8482 drives at 6Gbps with double-shielded construction and locking clips
- Connects four drives from one controller port using SFF8643 to 4× SFF8482 breakout
- Delivers 6Gbps SAS 2.1 speed for reliable mass-storage read-write tasks
- Double-shielded construction cuts EMI inside crowded server chassis for clean signals
- Locking clips on every connector prevent accidental disconnect from vibration
- Designed for internal server, NAS and RAID controller storage expansion projects
Server Storage Breakout Cable
The SMUGDESK SF012 is an internal Mini SAS HD breakout cable that connects a single SFF8643 host port on a RAID controller to four 29-pin SFF8482 target connectors. It enables one controller port to drive up to four SAS or SATA hard disk drives simultaneously for server and NAS storage expansion.
Double-Shielded Construction
A built-in double-shielded wire structure suppresses crosstalk and electromagnetic noise inside crowded server chassis to maintain clean signal transmission. Locking clips on each connector guarantee tight insertion and prevent accidental disconnection caused by equipment vibration during long-term runtime.
Suits RAID Array Builders
This cable suits IT maintainers, system integrators and DIY users expanding internal hard-disk capacity in rackmount servers, NAS devices or workstation storage projects. It is not for installations requiring a backplane-mounted SFF8643 interface, as the cable works only with controller-side ports.

Questions about this item
Will the SFF8643 connectors wear out and need replacement after repeated server maintenance?
The latching clips on each SFF8643 and SFF8482 connector are rated for standard server insertion cycles and do not have a published replacement interval.
What limits the 6Gbps throughput when four drives are active on this breakout cable?
The SAS 2.1 link shares the single SFF8643 host port bandwidth across all four SFF8482 target connections.
Does the double-shielded cable run hot or draw extra power during all-day RAID rebuilds?
The passive copper construction adds no active heat or power draw; only the drives and controller generate thermal load.
