- 1 metre (3.3 ft) length allows flexible internal and external routing
1-to-4 SAS breakout cable
This MiniSAS breakout cable connects a single SFF-8088 26-pin port to four SAS SFF-8482 29-pin drive connectors. It is built for administrators expanding enterprise servers, RAID controllers or storage arrays with multiple SAS hard drives. The integrated power feed delivers both data and drive power through one assembly. The 1-metre length suits internal chassis routing and external enclosure links.
Passive copper construction
The cable uses shielded copper conductors that carry signals without active electronics, so it adds no heat and draws no power of its own. Drive power travels on the dedicated supply leads, keeping the data path clean. In normal operation the assembly runs silently and stays at ambient temperature inside a rack or workstation.
SFF-8088 host port required
Installation requires a free SFF-8088 26-pin port on a RAID card, HBA or motherboard and a matching power connector from the system supply. Each of the four SFF-8482 29-pin plugs accepts one SAS drive, freeing internal drive bays from separate power cables. Builders needing more than four drives or a different host interface must use additional or alternative cables.

Questions about this item
How do I route the 1M MiniSAS SFF8088 26Pin breakout to four SFF8482 29Pin drives without stressing the connectors?
Align the 26Pin plug squarely with the controller port, then fan the four 29Pin tails along the chassis using the integrated power leads; avoid sharp bends within the first 5 cm of each connector to protect the anti-interference shielding.
What maintenance will the SFF8088 to 4×SFF8482 cable need over time?
Inspect the 26Pin and 29Pin contacts quarterly for dust or oxidation, reseat any loose plugs, and verify the power leads remain firmly crimped; no internal components require replacement.
At what point does signal integrity limit the 3.3FT SAS breakout under sustained RAID traffic?
The 1M length is within SAS electrical specifications, so the first limit under heavy sustained I/O is typically the controller or drive throughput, not the cable itself.
