  • ARC return channel sends TV audio back to your equipment
  • Auto-switching, push-button and IR remote give three control options

2x1 HDMI Switch with Audio Extraction

The SMUGDESK Torpedo Nova connects two HDMI sources to one display while extracting audio to separate outputs. It passes 4K video at 60 Hz with HDR and 18 Gbps bandwidth under HDMI 2.0b and HDCP 2.2. Built-in audio extraction sends sound to optical, coaxial, RCA or 3.5 mm ports.

Home theater users needing flexible audio routing

This unit suits setups that must feed a soundbar, amplifier or headphones from consoles, streamers or a TV ARC return. Buyers who only need simple video switching without audio separation, or who require more than two inputs, should consider a different device.

Plug-and-play installation

Connect sources, display and audio gear, then choose auto-switching, the front button or the IR remote to change inputs. The most common issue is an incorrect EDID handshake when sources wake from sleep, which a manual reselection usually resolves.

Questions about this item

Do I need two HDMI sources and a display with an HDMI input to use the Torpedo Nova 2x1 switch?

Yes, connect up to two HDMI source devices such as a game console and a streaming box to the two inputs, then run one HDMI cable from the output to your TV or projector.

Will the switch pass 4K 60 Hz HDR video from an older HDMI 1.4 source without downgrading the signal?

The switch complies with HDMI 2.0b and HDCP 2.2, so it forwards whatever resolution and refresh rate the source provides up to 4K at 60 Hz with HDR.

How can I confirm the audio extractor is sending sound to my soundbar after setup?

Play content with Dolby Digital or DTS audio, then check each output — optical, coaxial, RCA and 3.5 mm — for sound; the ARC function also returns TV audio back through the HDMI cable.
