Extending USB 3.0 to 65 ft

This active USB 3.0 extension cable reaches 65 ft (20 m) with a Type A male-to-female layout. Built-in signal booster chips maintain SuperSpeed performance over distances that would defeat a passive cable. It suits setups where the host and peripheral must stay far apart, such as office printers, VR sensors or external drives.

Practical limits of USB 3.0 active extension

The booster chips allow reliable 3.0 signalling at 65 ft, well beyond the normal passive limit. The cable remains backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices, which will operate at 2.0 speeds. Signal integrity depends on the integrated repeaters; daisy-chaining multiple active cables is not supported by the design.

Build quality and daily implications

A triple-shielded jacket with aluminum foil and braided wrap resists EMI and RFI in busy environments. The 22 AWG tinned copper conductors and gold-plated plugs reduce corrosion and contact resistance over time. The 65 ft length lets you route the cable along walls or through cable trays without needing a powered hub at the far end.

Questions about this item

How do I choose between the 16 ft, 65 ft and 100 ft lengths?

Pick the shortest length that reaches your device; 16 ft covers typical desk setups, 65 ft spans a room and 100 ft reaches across large spaces or to another floor.

What does the USB 3.0 label mean when the cable is stretched to 65 ft?

Built-in signal booster chips maintain SuperSpeed USB 3.0 data rates at this length, whereas a passive cable would drop to USB 2.0 speeds or fail entirely.

Does the Type A male-to-female connection limit the cable to USB 3.0 devices only?

The cable works with both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 Type A devices; the active repeater simply preserves the higher 3.0 bandwidth when both ends support it.
