Three cables for distant USB gear

This three-pack of USB 3.0 extension cables adds 10 ft of reach to each connection, letting users place webcams, keyboards, flash drives, hard drives, printers and other peripherals where they are needed without moving the host computer. The male-to-female Type-A connectors work with both Windows PCs and Macs. Builders who need longer runs or angled connectors will not find them here.

5 Gbps SuperSpeed data rate

Each cable supports USB 3.0 transfer speeds up to 5 Gbps, which is ten times faster than USB 2.0, while remaining backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 devices. The specification that decides fit is the 5 Gbps ceiling; equipment that demands 10 Gbps or higher will not reach its rated throughput on these cords.

Molded strain relief and shielding

Gold-plated connectors, bare copper conductors, foil-and-braid shielding and moulded strain-relief boots with grip treads combine to reduce signal errors and make repeated plugging and unplugging more reliable. No driver disc, cable ties or adhesive mounts are included in the package.

Questions about this item

What does the 5 Gbps headline speed mean when the cable is plugged into my computer?

The cable supports SuperSpeed USB 3.0 data rates up to 5 Gbps, so large files from a hard drive or flash drive move roughly ten times faster than on USB 2.0, provided the host port and the peripheral are also USB 3.0.

Which USB standard does the male-to-female connector use, and what does that limit in practice?

It uses a USB 3.0 Type-A male to Type-A female interface, which caps the link at 5 Gbps and remains backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 devices at their native speeds.

How much reach does the 10-foot length add, and what physical features help it stay plugged in?

Each of the three cables adds 10 feet of reach, and moulded strain-relief connectors with grip treads make plugging and unplugging secure without stressing the ports.
